Weak hadeeth about tear of repentance wiping seas of Hellfire

Question

Is there any authentic hadith that states that one tear of regret of repentance will wipe up oceans of fire of Hell?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

There is a hadeeth with this meaning that was reported by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab Al-Eemaan, but Al-Albaani classified it as Dha’eef (weak).

Al-Albaani said in Silsilat Al-Ahaadeeth Adh-Dha’eefah wal-Mawdhoo’ah wa Atharuha As-Sayyi’ fil-Ummah:

Al-Bayhaqi reported from Is-haaq ibn Ibraaheem, ‘‘Abdur-Razzaaq narrated to us from Ma‘amar, from their Shaykh, from ‘Amr ibn Sa'eed, from Muslim ibn Yasaar, who said, 'The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “There is no eye that is filled with tears except that Allah forbids that entire body from the fire; and there are no tears that flow down the cheeks, except that no darkness nor humiliation will cover that face; and if a person weeps in a given nation, they will be forgiven; and there is nothing except that it has an amount and a balance, except the tear, as it extinguishes seas of fire.”'’”

Al-Bayhaqi said, “It is a Mursal hadeeth (a report narrated on the authority of some of the Taabi'oon [the generation that followed the Companions]), and it was narrated as a statement of Al-Hasan Al-Basri.

Al-Munthiri said, “It is most likely that it is a statement of Al-Hasan Al-Basri.It is considered Dha’eef because of the narrator whose name was not mentioned (the Shaykh), and I do not know ‘Amr ibn Sa’eed, and Is-haaq ibn Ibraaheem is Ad-Dabari, and he is criticized.

Allah knows best.
