Question
It was said that wearing a complete set of white dentures is prohibited and that the same applies if one has a tooth or more of gold or silver, is this true?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
There is no blame on one who wears white dentures due to the falling of his teeth or similar dental problems. He is not required to have gold teeth. It is not permissible for men to use gold except if there is a need for it, and amongst the forms of this is orthodontic wiring. As for one who has natural teeth, it is not permissible for him to wear dentures over them, giving the perception that the dentures are his natural teeth, for it implies deception and changing the creation of Allah Almighty.
