Expecting Failure in Life and Marriage

Question

I am suffering from a weak personality. I often think that I am a failure and that I will never succeed in my life and that when I am married, my wife will get bored of me and seek divorce because I am sexually frigid. I think that I was afflicted with a curse. All of these ill thoughts irritate my life, what should I do?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Such ill thoughts and ideas are from Satan. You have to treat and expel them and never think about them again. Also, avoid matters that make you think of them, such as seclusion and excessive thinking. Busy yourself with reciting the noble Quran and seeking refuge with Allah Almighty whenever they come to you. You may visit some psychiatric specialists to tell them about your problem so that they may guide you to a beneficial treatment.

You should know that expecting failure all the time contradicts having a good assumption of Allah Almighty. Thus, you should adopt the elements of success and you will succeed, Allah willing. As for the frigidity that had bad effects, its existence cannot be generally known except after marriage and, even if it does exist, it can be treated.

Allah knows best.
