Fatwa CenterPredicting future looks of babies through aging pictures
Question
Shaikh, with technological advantages, some people are making pictures of future adult/teenager/old-aged faces of a person who is a baby or an infant at present based on the features of the baby's face. Is this some kind of fortune telling? And if a person who prays shows interest in that, are all their prayers invalid for 40 days? How can they continue the prayer in such situation? Can you clarify it?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Making future pictures of a baby or infant based on their features as a form of guessing – as you mentioned – does not seem, to us, to be included in fortune telling or in the warnings against it.
