Danced with his wife in a dance club

Question

I wanted to know if it is permissible, or if it is haram, or what is the conclusion, of bringing my wife to a dance club. We have done so before, without drinking alcohol or anything, and just danced with each other. The atmosphere is fun to dance with. I can guess that it is not good or lawful, but i just want to know for sure because we are thinking about going again.....
Also, how lawful is smoking shisha or hookah?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

If there are evildoings taking place in that club, such as singing, intermixing between the two sexes, and drinking alcohol, as predominantly thought in that club, then a Muslim is not permitted to go there in the first place. If he goes there, then he will witness evildoings being committed, and this is unlawful. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversation. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.}[Quran 6:68]

If such things were committed in that dance club when you were there, then you must repent to Allaah and must not go there again.

However, mere dancing (in seclusion) with one’s wife is permissible – Allaah Willing - unless there is music. Please refer to Fataawa 87417 and 81604.

With regard to smoking Sheeshah (hubble bubble), it is forbidden and even more dangerous than smoking cigarettes because of the extra harmful substances which are added to it. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 118590.

Allaah Knows best.
