She Claimed to Be Impregnated by Jinn

Question

Can a woman get pregnant from Jinn? (I heard a case of a young lady who got pregnant and she claimed she wasn't touched by anyone. And some people told her that it might be a pregnancy from Jinn, so she had an abortion.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

For a woman to conceive from a Jinn is almost impossible since they are two different creatures. Imam Al-Mawardi may Allaah have mercy upon him said: “The minds cannot accept this matter since humans and Jinns are two complete different creatures. The nature of each one is totally different from the nature of the other one. Human beings have body while Jinns are only spiritual. The human beings are created from sounding clay like the clay of pottery while the Jinns are created from a smokeless flame of fire. So, mixing one kind to another is illogical and breeding with this diversity is impossible.” [End of quote]

Therefore, we believe that this woman is pregnant from Zina. Most probably she has committed this sin willingly and deliberately. When she observed pregnancy, she or the one who committed Zina with her, planned to claim that the pregnancy is from Jinn and she never touched a man, etc.

Anyway, aborting the fetus after the passing of one hundred and twenty days is forbidden according to the consensus of the Muslim scholars. Aborting before that period is also forbidden according to the preponderant opinion of the Muslim scholars. However, abortion is permitted only when the life of the mother is endangered and she could not survive if the pregnancy continues. Know that only an authentic reliable medical committee is liable to decide whether the life of the mother is in danger or not. If they confirm grave danger for her life then abortion may be permitted.

Allah knows best.
