People Who Pass Away While on Hajj and ‘Umrah - II

Abu Hurayrah  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him reported that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: "Jihaad for the old, the weak, and the women is performing Hajj and ‘Umrah." [An-Nasaa’i with a Hasan chain of narrators]

Ibn ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  them narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) answered Jibreel  may  Allah  exalt  his  mention when he asked him about Islam saying: “'Islam is to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to offer the (compulsory) prayers dutifully and perfectly, to pay Zakah (obligatory charity), to perform Hajj and ‘Umrah, to wash from Janaabah (major impurity), and to fast during the month of Ramadan.' He (Jibreel) asked, 'Would I be considered a Muslim if I did that?' The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Yes.” He said, 'Indeed, you are truthful.'” [Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh, Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others with a different context]

Umm Salamah  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  her reported that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Hajj is the Jihaad for every weak person.” [Hasan] [Ibn Maajah on the authority of Abu Ja‘far]

Maa‘iz  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him reported that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) was asked, “'Which deeds are better (in goodness)?' The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) replied: 'The best of deeds is believing in Allah Alone, then Jihaad, then a Hajj Mabroor is far better than all the righteous deeds filling the span between east and west.'” [Saheeh] [Ahmad, At-Tabaraani, the narrators of Ahmad up till Maa‘iz  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him are trustworthy]

Jaabir  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “'There is no reward for Hajj Mabroor except Paradise.' Someone asked, 'What makes Hajj Mabroor, O Prophet of Allah?' The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) replied: 'Providing food for people and speaking kind words to them.'” [Ahmad, At-Tabaraani in Al-Awsat with a Hasan chain of narrators, Ibn Khuzaymah in his Saheeh, Al-Bayhaqi, Al-Haakim narrated a short version and judged it as having a Saheeh chain of narrators] [Saheeh due to others]

‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ood  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him reported that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Keep on performing Hajj and ‘Umrah, for they eliminate poverty and sin just as the bellows eliminate impurities from iron, gold, and silver. There is no reward for Hajj Mabroor except Paradise.” [Hasan] [At-Tirmithi, Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibbaan] [At-Tirmithi: Hasan Saheeh]

Ibn ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  them both, reported that he heard the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) saying: ... The pilgrim’s she-camel does not place its foot nor does it raise it except that Allah writes for him a reward due to it, or wipes off one of his sins, or raises him one rank.” [Al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh]

Jaabir  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Pilgrims and those performing ‘Umrah are the guests of Allah; He invited them so they answered Him, and they asked Him so He gave to them.” [Al-Bazzaar, with trustworthy narrators]

Ibn ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  them narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “The one who fights in the Cause of Allah, the pilgrim performing Hajj, and the one performing ‘Umrah are the guests of Allah; He called them so they answered Him and they asked Him so He gave to them.” [Hasan] [Ibn Maajah and Ibn Hibbaan on the authority of ‘Imraan ibn ‘Uyaynah from ‘Ataa’ ibn As-Saa’ib]

Abu Hurayrah  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Pilgrims and those performing ‘Umrah are the guests of Allah; if they supplicate Him, He answers them, and if they ask for His forgiveness, He forgives them.” [Saheeh] [An-Nasaa’i, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Ibn Hibbaan] Ibn Khuzaymah and Ibn Hibbaan reported the narration with the following wording: “The guests of Allah are three: A pilgrim performing Hajj, one performing ‘Umrah, and a person who fights in the Cause of Allah.” Ibn Khuzaymah’s version mentions the person who fights in the Cause of Allah first.

Ibn ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  them narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Enjoy [visiting] and take advantage of this House (i.e. The Ka‘bah) because it was demolished twice and will be raised up in the third.” [Saheeh] [Al-Bazzaar, At-Tabaraani in Al-Kabeer, Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibbaan and Al-Haakim] Ibn Khuzaymah clarified that “will be raised up in the third” means that it will be raised up after the third time.

Ibn ‘Abbaas  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  them reported that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Hasten to perform Hajj – meaning the obligatory Hajj – for none of you knows what will happen to him.” [Abu Al-Qaasim Al-Asbahaani]
