The Hady (sacrificial animal) in Hajj

Question:

How would I slaughter a Hady during my Hajj with my mother?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

If you are performing a Qiraan or Tamattu‘ Hajj, then you are required to offer a Hady which is to be slaughtered on the day of An-Nahr (slaughter) (the 10th of Thul-Hijjah) and distribute it among the poor of Makkah. If you are performing the Ifraad Hajj, then there will be no Hady obligatory upon you. The same ruling also applies to your mother. If you and your mother are unable to slaughter a Hady, then you are required to fast ten days; three during Hajj and seven after returning your country, as Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Whoever performs ‘Umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals. And whoever cannot find [or afford such an animal] - then a fast of three days during Hajj and of seven when you have returned [home].} [Quran 2:196]

If you have the money to buy the Hady and you cannot slaughter it yourself, you can authorize a trustworthy person to slaughter it on your behalf and on behalf of your mother, whether the one authorized is an individual or an institution.

Allaah Knows best.
