Question:

Salam walakum sir.. is love marriage in islam still counted as 50% of iman and given same preferences like a normal marriage.. i am not asking if love marriage is allowed or not .. but if its a love marriage is it giving sawab and importance as normal marriage ?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

The Hadeeth says in absolute terms that whoever gets married, he has completed half of his religion, and it does not distinguish between a marriage resulting from love and one not based on love. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Whoever marries he has completed half of religion, so he should fear Allaah in the remaining half." [At-Tabaraani, Al-Bayhaqi & Al-Haakim - Al-Albaani graded it Hasan (good)]

We have not come across an authentic Hadeeth which states that a marriage that is resulted from love is more rewarding.  However, if a man is attached to a girl, and this love did not lead him to seek out something forbidden, like looking, corresponding and dating, and he sought to be connected with this girl in a lawful manner by marrying her, then he will be rewarded for being chaste and patient.
