Question:

I am newly married & i like to have intercourse with my wife more than twice in the same night so what shoud i do after first intercourse for men i know we need to perfrom wudu (its better & refreshing) but for women what shud she do? ...shoud she take bath after first intercourse or shoud shoud take bath after second intercourse?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

It is recommended for the man to perform Wudhoo’ (ablution) when he wants to repeat sexual intercourse according to the majority of the scholars, but it is not obligatory. The Kuwaiti Encyclopedia of Fiqh reads,

The majority of the Hanafis, Shaafi‘is, and Hanbalis held that it is recommended for the person in a state of Janaabah (post-intercourse impurity) to perform Wudhoo’ when he wants to eat, drink, have intercourse again, and sleep based on a report from ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with her that whenever the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) wanted to sleep while in a state of Janaabah, he would wash his private parts and perform Wudhoo’.

Moreover, it has been reported that when the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was intimate with his wives and wanted to eat or sleep, he would perform Wudhoo’. He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) also said: "When one of you has intercourse with his wife and wants to repeat it, let him perform Wudhoo’."”

As for the woman, we could not find any scholarly view suggesting that it is recommended for the woman to perform Wudhoo’ before having intercourse again. She is not required to perform Ghusl after the first or second intercourse. Rather, she has to perform Ghusl when she wants to perform an act of worship that requires full ritual purity, such as prayer and the like.

Allaah Knows best.
