Question:

marrying a non muslim mansalam,I have been proposed by a non muslim man. He doesnt practise any religion but has good character . He wants to Live by the will of Allah swt and follow his guidelines but wont take the Sahadah. Could you please answer this question for me?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If this man does not pronounce the Two Testimonies of Faith and does not embrace Islam and adhere to its rituals – especially the prayer – then it is not permissible for him to marry you. Islam has forbidden the marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim man, as is well known. Ibn al-Mundhir has reported the consensus of all scholars on the prohibition of this matter, and their evidence is the Saying of Allah (which means): {And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe.} [Quran 2:221]

Moreover, even if he embraces Islam, you should not hasten to agree to marry him until it becomes clear to you through trustworthy people who know him that there is evidence of his sincerity and that he has become righteous. There are those who like a given woman and know that there is no way for him to marry her so he pretends to embrace Islam so that she would accept him and he would marry her.

However, when he marries her, she will discover his reality, and problems occur and the woman's life will turn into hell with him, so you should be mindful of this.

His good manners is not sufficient, and it is of no benefit with the absence of the foundation, which is the soundness of belief. Allah Says (what means): {And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.} [Quran 5:5]

'Aa'ishah may Allaah be pleased with her narrated: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Ibn Jud'aan used in the Jaahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance) to keep ties with kinship and feed the poor. Would that be of any avail to him?’ He said: ‘It would be of no avail to him as he did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of Resurrection.’” [Muslim]

All of that did not benefit him because he was not a believer.

Whoever lacks faith cannot live according to what Allah wants or follow His Commands.

Therefore, we advise you to look for a righteous Muslim man to marry you. It is Islamically permissible for a woman to look for a righteous husband, provided that the Islamic conditions are met and that she avoids what leads to temptation, such as forbidden seclusion and the like.
