Ruling of Saying ‘Destiny decreed’

Question:

I have a confusion. I saw a video clip of a shaykh saying that phrases that "life taught me" and "destiny decreed" are shirk but he himself said that instead one can say "the prophet صَلَّى ?للَّ?هُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ directed me to this and that." Is saying such phrases really forbidden/shirk especially when it is generally understood that Allah is the one who ultimately teaches and decides and does this through means? How come saying those phrases using destiny is shirk but the prophet is not?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

These expressions "life taught me" and "destiny decreed" contain no legal (Islamic) impediment, and they fall within the scope of the figurative expressions of the Arabic language.
