Conditions for changing one's clothes before Mahrams

Question:

Is it permissible for me to change my outer clothes before my maternal aunt?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no harm in changing your outer clothes before your Mahram women (individuals of a prohibited degree of kinship) if these two conditions are fulfilled:

1-      You should cover your ‘Awrah (parts of body to be covered). A Muslim man's ‘Awrah in front of his Mahram women is from the navel to the knees.

2-      There should be no fear of any potential Fitnah (temptation or provocation of desire) between the two parties.

If these two conditions are met, it will be permissible for you to change your outer clothes in front of your maternal aunt.

Allaah Knows best.
