Question:

What was the Islamic rules about Muslims working and building for the unpermissible things in islam e.g. casino, disco, night club etc. ncluding the Muslim engineer,or architect that designs that buildings.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The work of a Muslim in building and designing casino halls and nightclubs, and other places of disobedience to Allah is considered among the forbidden jobs as this is a direct help for the disobedience of Allah, while Allah Says (what means): {Help you one another in virtue, righteousness and piety but do not help one another in sin and transgression.} [Quran 5:2]

Moreover, Ibn ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Allah has cursed alcohol [all kinds of intoxicants], the one who drinks it, the one who presses it, the one who gets it pressed, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who sells it and the one who purchases it.” [Ibn Majah, Abu Daawood] Another narration by Abu Daawood reads: “…and the one who eats its price.

Therefore, if a person ponders on this Hadeeth, he will realize that it is the drinker who commits the sin while the others, from the one who presses it to the one who carries it, are cursed because they helped him in consuming it.

No doubt, the one who helps in building these forbidden places such as nightclubs, casino halls, bars etc., deserves to be cursed more than the one who presses wine. This is because these places are built for many forbidden activities that go beyond just wine drinking.

Allah knows best.
