Praying in the direction of the Prophet's grave

Question:

What is the ruling for praying in the direction of Qutb (The direction of the grave of the beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) as majority of Ahl Sunnah Wa al-Jamah do in India and Pakistan?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Performing prayers facing the grave of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is not allowed according to the agreement of all Muslim scholars. The prayers of those who do so are not valid.  If one intends to get nearer to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) by this practice it becomes major Shirk and the person gets out of the fold of Islam.

Know that merely names do not make one from Ahl al-Sunnah rather the true following of Shariah makes one of Ahl al-Sunnah.  Ahl al-Sunnah are far away from the acts you are asking about.

Allah knows best.
