Question:

I am a Muslim girl of 27 years of age. I have done my Bachelor of Commerce from Pakistan and worked for 5- years. As my father's salary is not enough to support the family I worked. I was a very good employee but other staffs were non Muslims, it was a very tough environment. So I quit that job and tried my best to continue my study for the masters but where ever I applied for admission I was rejected for 2- years. I was working last year, but when I went to take admission test in Pakistan, the manager hired a non-Muslim in my place and terminated my services. Now I do not have any job and I was admitted to any college. Every thing is very difficult for me. I am very depressed and feel there is no hope. By God's mercy, I am observing 5-daily prayers, giving charity as much as I can, fasting the month of Ramadan and an other 3 days every Islamic month, praying Salat-Al Tahajjud,Salat Tasbeeh and Salat ul Lail. Kindly advise me what I should do.

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

First and foremost we ask Allah to change your sorrow and anxiety into peace and happiness, and change your state of being poor and in need into being rich.

You have to know, dear sister, that this life is a test, and that it is not free from troubles. Allah says: "And so are the days (good and not so good), We give to men by turns, that Allâh may test those who believe. (Aali Imran 3:140)

Allah informed us that he inflicts his slaves with difficulties and easiness, with good and bad to test them. Allah says: "and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us you will be returned. (Al-Anbiya 21:35)

Many people repented to Allah because of the difficulties and hardships that had befallen them, so the calamities and  hardship were better for them than much goodness and bounties.

And Allah blessed many people with great bounties and good but they transgressed the Right of Allah and spent those bounties on Haram and evil things. So these bounties were a cause of their destruction and loss.

Therefore, a person has to believe in his predestination and decree, and remember the various bounties that Allah blessed him/her with, and not be among those who count the hardships and forget the bounties.

We advise the sister to return to Allah and ask Him as it is He who divided the provisions among the people, Allah says: ""It is we who portion out between them their livelihood in this world." (Az-Zukhruf 43:32)

He is the only one who can answer your call.

Allah also says: "Is not He (better than your gods) who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil." (An-Naml 27:62)

We also advise you to repent to Allah from your sins; it could be that the sins are the reason of losing the job and causing other difficulties and calamities.

It is reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Supplication (Dua)is the only thing that drives back the decree, and a person is prevented from a provision because of a sin that he/she had committed." Reported by Ibn Majah.

Finally, we advise you to fear Allah, as who fears Him, Allah will protect him/her and facilitate his/her affairs.

Allah says: "He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, and then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things." (At-Talaq 65:3)

Allah also says: "And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him." (At-Talaq 65:4)

Allah further says: "And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will remit his sins from him, and will enlarge his reward." (At-Talaq 65:5)

So, whoever wants provision, he/she has to fear Allah, and whoever wants his/her affairs to be easy has to fear Allah, and who ever wants his/her sins to be forgiven has to fear Allah.

Allah knows best.
