Question:

I have received your answer for my last time question, thanks. To continue my question, my father has annulled the asked which I made by his friend, and the Qaadi also told me as you told me his friend can't be his guardian. And I applied to the court that I am 21, and based on the Shariah law I have right to make an asked with a religious person, if my father is rejected me with out any reason. If I do so I will quarrel with my father, and if I leave the person whom I want to be his wife for the future, I will be the looser, so please help me to decide, may Allaah be with you.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Undoubtedly if you can get married to this man with the approval of your father then it is the best solution. Hence, you have to make every effort to convince your father, show him your affection and respect, seek Allaah's help first and then ask the help of those who can change his mind. You may ask the one proposing to you in marriage to wait sometime until you get your father's approval.

Inspite of all the above efforts if your father still insists on his rejection, then the nearest guardian, if there is any, may marry you off to this man; otherwise Muslim Judge can carry out this task.

If you get married as mentioned according to the above procedure, you will not be considered as disobedient to your father.

However, you are obliged to be kind toward your father and to be good with him as much as possible. Seek his pleasure by all possible lawful means.

Allaah knows best.
