Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

First, it should be noted that one cannot be certain that magic was done to him merely due to not being able to get a job or failed to succeed in business or in studies. This could be a test from Allaah. Allaah says (which means): {Allaah extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts for him. Indeed Allaah is, of all things, All-Knowing.}[Qur'an 29:62]. Allaah further says (which means): {And We test you with evil and with good as trial.}[Qur'an 21:35].

Not finding a job or failing in business or studies is not an evidence that you have been afflicted by magic. Nonetheless, there is no harm for a person to consult someone who perform Ruqyah with verses of the Qur'an and supplications from the Sunnah if he feels that he has some symptoms of magic. However, one should not go to magicians and fortune tellers or other people who claim to distinguish between white and magic. Any kind of magic is forbidden, so please refer to Fatwa: 83618 about this and about the ruling of going to magicians and fortune tellers. Also, refer to Fatwa: 82918 about the method of religious treatment of victims of magic and refer to Fatwa: 88904 about the evidence that magic exists and its cure, and Fatwa: 85109 about the symptoms of magic.

Allaah knows best.
