The distortion of the Torah led to the distortion of the belief of the Jews

Question:

How was the belief of the children of Israel falsified?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

From the time Allaah revealed the Torah on Moosaa (Moses) may Allaah exalt his mention the Jews found in it what did not suit their interest and desires, so they revolted against it, and refused to act according to its teachings and rules. Therefore, Allaah threatened them to destroy them as He raised the mount over them as a cloud, and ordered them to abide by the legislations mentioned in the Torah. Allaah Says (what means): {And [recall] when We took your covenant, [O Children of Israel, to abide by the Torah] and We raised over you the mount, [saying], “Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that perhaps you may become righteous.”}[Quran 2:63].  So when Allaah threatened them, they were very scared and submitted themselves to Allaah, held fast to the Torah and ruled by it for a period of time. Then they started to falsify it and distort it. Allaah Says (what means): {And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, “This is from Allaah,” but it is not from Allaah. And they speak untruth about Allaah while they know.}[Quran 3:78]. In another verse Allaah Says (what means): {Among the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] places [i.e. usages].}[Quran 4:46]. That is how the Torah was falsified since that time, and this, of course, led to the distortion of the belief of the Jews.

It should be noted also that the Jews have the Talmud which is like an interpretation [of the Torah], and they consider it as sacred and raise it even above the Torah, and they say: 'Whoever studies the Torah, he has performed an act of virtue for which he does not deserve to be rewarded, and whoever studies the text of the Talmud, he had performed  an act of virtue for which he deserves to be rewarded, and whoever studies the interpretation of the Talmud, he has performed the greatest virtue.'

The Talmud contains a compilation of their false beliefs which is greater than the blasphemy the Torah contained as a result of the distortion and falsification it was subjected to. They claim that their souls is a part of Allaah, and that they are greater in status than the angels in the Sight of Allaah, and that whoever hits a Jew, it is as if he hits Allaah, the Almighty; Exalted is He, and High above is He from what they describe Him.

Allaah Knows best.
