Question:

bismillahi ar-rahman ar-rahim Assalaamu aleikum My problem is that my mother who is not a muslim is paying me for insurance and she is very strict on having one. So maby if i tell her that i dont want one she does not agree. So is there any sin on me for her to pay my insurance until i will live 0n my one and stop paying for it ?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

All kinds of commercial insurances are forbidden as clarified in Fataawa 81425 and 85327.

If your mother paid for insurance for you without you asking for it, then you are obliged to ask her to cancel this insurance. If she agrees then this is what is required, but if she refuses then you are not sinful. However, when the matter becomes in your hands, then you are obliged to immediately stop this evil and you may benefit only for an amount up to the value of the installments which your mother had already paid.

Allaah Knows best.
