Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we would like to discuss your statement that your marriage was only a legal marriage. You should know that a marriage would not be Islamic unless it meets the conditions that are mentioned in Fatwa 83629. The most important of these conditions are the consent (and presence) of the guardian and the presence of two witnesses. Therefore, if this marriage took place without a guardian or without witnesses, then it must be invalidated. Afterwards, if this young man wants to marry you, then it should be according to the Islamic rites.  In case he is not interested in marrying you, then you should forget him and supplicate Allaah to bless you with a better husband, as everything is in the Hands of Allaah. Allaah Says (what means): {And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me-indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.}[Quran 2:186]

It should be noted that a woman should not establish an affectionate relationship with a marriageable man, and if one is affected by love sickness, then there are ways to treat this, and this is discussed in Fatwa 84544.

Allaah Knows best.
