Question:

I am a Indian and married person, one girl from russia who is a christian intrested in converted to islam and marry me.. She is unknown, Can I marry her?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for a Muslim to marry a Christian provided she is chaste as we discussed in Fatwa 89557. It is also permissible for a Muslim who is already married to marry a second, a third and a fourth wife, as we clarified in Fataawa 81469 and 86818.

However, a person, who wishes to marry a woman from the people of the Book, should be very careful, as many of these women, or say most of them, were brought up on (the so called) freedom and not fulfilling the rights of the husband, in a way that a husband lives with one of them as if he lives with a man like him in matters of moral conduct and way of thinking.

In addition to this, there is a great probability of her attracting her children to her religion and moral conduct. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 89418 and 84724.

Therefore, we do not advise you to marry this woman. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 83785.

Allaah Knows best.
