Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already issued Fataawa 87790 and 86577 clarifying that the Brelwi sect is based on Shirk beliefs, innovations and superstitions and they exaggerate about the Prophets and Awliya’a (plural of Waliyy, i.e. a friend of Allaah), as they consider it lawful to seek their [Prophets and Awliya’a] help and so forth.

Therefore, if this mosque is based on propagating those wrong beliefs and calling to them, and practicing innovations in it, then it is not permissible for you to donate for its construction or help in its establishment as, by doing so, you will be helping in what does not please Allaah, while Allaah Says (what means): {Help you one another in virtue, righteousness and piety but do not help one another in sin and transgression.}[Quran 5:2]

Hence, we advise you to donate your money where you believe that it will benefit you, because a Muslim will be questioned about his money as to where he earned it and where he spent it. So, you should not donate just to please your uncle or anyone else as there are many fields of goodness where you may donate your money.

Finally, it should be noted that when a Muslim spends [in charity], he should do so while having a sincere intention seeking the pleasure of Allaah and not for the sake of such and such person so that his endeavor will not be worthless and without reward.

Allaah Knows best.
