Question
What is the Sharee'ah-ruling on a woman who wears Hijaab during the month of Ramadan only?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
A woman is required by the Sharee'ah to wear the Hijab during all months of the year, including Ramadan and other months as well. Neglecting Hijab is a great sin which aggravates and multiplies during Ramadan. This woman should know that hastening to wear Hijab during Ramadan is an act of repentance on her part. However, for repentance to be accepted, it is a prerequisite that there is no insistence to commit the sin again. So, if she wears Hijab during Ramadan, although she insists on taking it off after Ramadan, then her repentance lacks one of its prerequisites. If a woman discards her past attitude of neglecting Hijab, then she is required to start wearing it with insistence never to take it off again.
