Prophet's wives excused for jealousy

Question

Asalamu3alakum Wa Rahmutullah Wa Barakatu I Have A Question About Surah 66 Which Is Surah Tahrim And I Just Need A Little More Tafsir For Ayat 1-10, Because Some Disgusting Shia Use This To Support There Cursing At Aisha And Hafsa (RA). And Jazakallah Khair.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We are not able to provide commentary on these verses as the situation does not allow it. But you may refer to some abridged interpretations for this purpose. The context in which these verses were revealed is known to the scholars. Please refer to Fatwa 263047.

The scholars said that jealousy is what led ‘Aa’ishah and Hafsah may Allaah be pleased with them to say what they said. There are many examples of jealousy, among which is the story in which ‘Aa’ishah broke a plate, and as a result, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Your mother (i.e. the mother of the believers) got jealous." [Al-Bukhari]

Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him said in his commentary on this Hadeeth: "'Your mother got jealous' is an apology from him lest her action be understood in a dispraised manner, as this is something that usually happens between the co-wives because of jealousy. It is part of human nature which one cannot control." [End of quote]

In another Hadeeth, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said to ‘Aa’ishah: "I know when you are content with me and when you are discontent with me." The Hadeeth ends with her saying: "I only part from your name." Commenting on this Hadeeth, Ibn Battaal said: "‘Aa’ishah's discontent with the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was due to jealousy, which women are excused for in many rulings as previously discussed, because of them not being spared of it." [End of quote]

This indicates that women are not to be blamed for this; the evidence is that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, pardoned them and did not hold them accountable for their mistake. How is it that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, pardoned them and these innovators insult them! Such people do not require evidence for insulting and cursing the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them because this is their established belief. They look for evidence to support their claim after the fact, but they cannot find evidence. If they would go as far as to curse and insult the best two men of this nation, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with them why would they not insult their daughters, who were less virtuous than them. We seek refuge in Allaah from being forsaken. We ask Allaah to make our hearts sound regarding the Companions of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Allaah says (what means): {And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."} [Quran 59:10]

Allaah Knows best.
