Helping in haraam is haraam

Question

What is meant by helping in haram? If a person does not directly help in haram but his action allows someone else to use it to do something haram, will he share in that sin?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Your question is too broad and unclear. In any case, helping in what is haraam (impermissible) is in itself haraam, as Allah says (what means): {And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.} [Quran 5:2]

Many forms of helping in haraam have been listed by the scholars under the title of preventing the means to evil and sin (Sadd ath-Tharaa'i`).

Then they differed about this rule: some restrict this rule and some expand it. There are some issues upon which the scholars agreed that they are helping in sin, while they differed in opinion about some other.

It would be better if you could clarify the specific matter which you wish to ask about so that we may clarify the view of the scholars about it.

Allah knows best.
