Affected by Whispers about the Transfer of Impurity from Her Hands

Question

I have recently found out that impurity transfers through wetness but however before I did not know this and I would touch light switches, door handles and all the finishings in my house with wet impure hands. Now everytime I touch these things with wet pure hands do my hands become impure considering I have touched these things previously with wet najis hands. I would like to emphasise i am 100% certain i have touched these things with wet najis hands before and these are not just doubts. Also please do not tell me to follow a different opinion because I follow what the majority of scholars are saying and the majority say that impurity is transferred through wetness.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We do not agree with you in your saying that these are not whispers. Hence, we warn you against them, and we clarify to you that something is not ruled to be impure by mere doubt and whispers.

In any case, the transfer of impurity to what you have touched –if we presume that this is the case –is contrary to the most famous opinion.

You may act according to the view that the impurity is not transferred by touching. If you wish to act according to the view that impurity is transferred, then if you are very certain about these things that they have become impure, then you have to purify them by pouring water on them.

If these things are among the glazed items [like glass, for example], then it is enough to wipe them to render them pure according to the view of many scholars.

If you are very sure that you have touched something impure with your wet hand, then the impurity is transferred to your hand according to the view of the majority of the scholars. So you have to wash it.

However, nothing is ruled as such without absolute certainty on which you can swear. Without such certainty, in principle your hand is pure, so you should believe that it is pure and act accordingly.

Finally, we warn you again against whispers as it clearly appears that you are affected with them.

Allah knows best.
