Wearing Fake Eyelashes and Performing ‘Umrah

Question

Do the one by one eyelashes
Prevent from going to Omra.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Wearing fake eyelashes does not prevent a person from going to Makkah to perform ‘Umrah or for any other purpose. The only impediment to going to Makkah is committing Shirk (associating partners with Allah). Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach Al-Masjid Al-Haraam after this, their [final] year.} [Quran 9:28]

However, wearing fake eyelashes may, first of all, affect the validity of the ablution, which is a condition for the validity of Tawaaf (circumambulating the Ka'bah). This is because if these fake eyelashes prevent water from reaching the natural ones, the ablution is incomplete and accordingly invalid because washing the face, including the eyelashes, is obligatory in the ablution. If the ablution is invalid, then, consequently, all the acts of worship that require ablution, such as prayer and Tawaaf, are invalid. Secondly, according to the scholarly opinion adopted at Islamweb, it is impermissible to wear fake eyelashes because it falls into the category of artificially extending the hair, which is prohibited. Moreover, committing a sin in the sanctuary of Makkah is rather graver and more heinous. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen may Allaah have mercy upon him said: “It is impermissible to wear fake eyelashes because it is similar to artificially extending the hair. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) cursed the woman who applies hair extensions to another woman as well as the one who gets her hair extended. If these fake eyelashes are as I imagine them to be, namely black strings attached to the eyelashes to seem dense so that the eyes would accordingly look beautiful, then they fall into the category of hair extension, the doer of which is subject to the curse of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). However, if you mean coloring the natural eyelashes, then it is not prohibited.” [Fataawa Noorun ‘ala Ad-Darb]
