Searching Some Expressions in Pornographic Sites

Question

This is a question from a brother who has very weird curiosity in searching for bizarre things related to blasphemy themes in pornography. For example he will go to a porn website type in “prophet porn” not because he wants to enjoy looking at this type of porn but he wants to see if the disbelievers would ever make this type of content, he just wants to see if such a video exists and not actually enjoy watching the video because his curious mindset tells him to do this. Is this brother a kafir for searching such blasphemous haram?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Merely searching that phrase out of curiosity does not make a Muslim a disbeliever. However, searching for that phrase – whatever the motive is – is a heinous and very dangerous matter.

It must be avoided, and over time, it may lead a person to applaud belittling the Prophets, or wishing to do that, or being pleased with it, and this is undoubtedly disbelief.

You should advise him to stay away from pornographic sites and explain to him that it is forbidden to enter them for any reason.

Allah knows best.
