Question
Is the marriage valid if the man and the woman were not present at the time of the nikah? My husband and I live in the U.S, we been married for over 4 years with 2 years old son now. The day of our marriage my uncles on my father’s side went to the masjid to tie the marriage. FYI they live in Africa. Lately for some reasons I’ve been asking myself is my marriage valid since I and my now husband were not present at the masjid to do the nikah.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
We have previously clarified the conditions for valid marriage in the two Fataawa 83629 and 86755. So, if these conditions are met, the marriage is valid even if the couple is not present.
Allah knows the best.
