Ruling on cauterization

Question

AssalamualaikumThere is a Hadith where Prophet(PBUH) said that 70000 of my followers will enter paradise without reckoning, they are those who 1) avoid asking Ruqyah 2)do not believe in bad omen 3)avoid seeking cauterization. I have a confusion regarding this, I want to remove skin tags on my eyelid by cauterization. It is not causing any harm to me such that I necessarily need it. My question is will I not be counted in those 70000 mentioned in the Hadith. Should I perform cauterization or not? JazakAllah

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu`alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

As for your question, will you be among those seventy thousand or not? This is from the knowledge of the Unseen that the servants do not know, whether you did cauterization or not, it is not possible to know that, and a servant does not even know whether he would be admitted into Paradise in the first place or taken into Hellfire, Allah forbid.

In this regard, in general terms, we can quote what is mentioned in Al-Kawkab Al-Wahhaj Sharh Saheeh Muslim: “Cauterization for a need is permissible as long as a person believes it will benefit him and there is a need for it, and that the prohibition of it is based on whether it is possible to do with other medications without resorting to it. So, in case the person does it while there is a dire need to do it while fulfilling the condition, then it is not disliked for him, nor would it decrease his reward. In addition, he may be among those seventy thousand who would be admitted into Paradise without accountability.

As for your question, “Am I obliged to make cauterization?” the answer is “No, it is not mandatory upon you.” In fact, cauterization is not a must; instead, it is either permissible or disliked according to its need.

We draw your attention to the fact that using laser does not belong to the cauterization recorded in the Hadeeth since the essence of each of them is different from the other.

Allah knows best.
