Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His Slave and Messenger.

There is no harm in microchipping a cat if it is done for a valid and beneficial purpose, such as locating the cat when it becomes lost or for similar reasons. Likewise, the process of implanting the chip should not cause the animal any harm or result in any medical problems.

The scholars have permitted conducting experiments and procedures on animals when there is a legitimate need and recognized benefit. Therefore, implanting a microchip in a cat for such beneficial purposes is even more appropriate to be regarded as permissible.
