Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we thank you for your question and we welcome you as a friend in our site. We hope that you will find what benefits you and benefits all the Muslims.

We advise the Muslims all around the world to adhere to Islam, abide by its commands and refrain from its prohibitions, and hold fast to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ).

We also advise the Muslims to implement the Orders of Allaah among them in order to achieve success and be protected from all kinds of evils.

As regard the evil which a Muslim sees taking place, then the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he should change it with his hand (i.e. physically), if he is unable he should change it with his tongue (i.e. verbally) and if he is unable, he should change it with his heart (by detesting it in his heart) and that is the weakest level of faith." [Muslim].

Therefore, if a person sees an evil, and he is a man of power, then he should change the evil with his hands, otherwise with his tongue, and if again he is unable to do so, then with his heart, and this is the weakest level of faith.

Changing the evil by the heart, means hating that action and wishing that it never existed. Furthermore, one should stay away from the place where the evil is and he should not befriend its doer. Nonetheless, a person should balance between the benefits and disadvantages when changing the evil. If the benefit is greater than the evil, then he should change it, but if the same or greater evil will result from changing it, then in this case he should not change it.

Allaah Knows best.
