Fatwa CenterSurgery to correct loose skin on stomach
Question
After having 3 babies, my skin on my stomach is very loose. Is it permitted in Islam to have surgery for this matter?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
If the gastroptosis is simple and natural and the purpose of the surgery is only to acquire beauty and to have a good figure, then undergoing such operation is not permissible. It might be an act of changing the creation of Allah. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) has cursed those women who change the creation of Allah.
On the other hand, if the prolapse of the skin is too much or noticeable or harmful then having a surgery for removing it is permissible.
