Human's Communicating with Jinns

Question

How can humans communicate with Jinns?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Communication with Jinn can be in several ways. For example, a Jinni may get into a human being and beat him.

Allah Says (what means): {Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity.} [Quran 2: 275]

Ibn Kathir, may Allaah have mercy be upon him, said: “One cannot stand except in the state which we may see of an epileptic one who is beaten by Satan, i.e. to stand in a shocking manner.

Al-Qurtubi , may Allaah have mercy be upon him, said: “Such a verse refutes the opinion of those who deny epilepsy by Jinn.

Abdullah ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said to his father: ‘Some people say that a Jinn cannot get into a human being'. His father replied: 'O son! They do not tell the truth. It is he who speaks by one's tongue.’ Such an example gives us one way of communication with Jinn.

Know that the Jinn are of three kinds:

1) Some have wings so that they can fly.

2) Some are embodied in snakes.

3) Some reside in some places and at other times they travel.

Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah have mercy be upon him, said in his book al-Fatawa: “Jinn may appear in the form of human beings and animals.

In addition, people can see them and even talk with them as it is reported by Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him who mentioned that to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and the latter told Abu Hurayrah: ‘That one was a devil.

Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah have mercy be upon him, added that communication with Jinn can be in other ways and forms with those who seek their help; i.e. when some devious people or polytheists seek help from Jinn. So, the Jinn help their human fellows and provide them with some wonders and extraordinary actions. But, in fact, such things are devilish works to help those who put the Quran and the Sunnah behind their backs.

Allah knows best.
