Hadeeth about Looking at Spouse's Private Parts

Question

As Ayisha (Radiya Allahu Anha) said: "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) did; he never looked at me (private parts) and I never looked at his" . Did this Hadith tell us that is forbidden to look at each others private parts? Did Prophet never looked at private parts of his wives and they never looked at his private parts? Does that mean they never had sexual intercourse or other foreplay or sexual relations, as other human being?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The Prophet's sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) marital life was as normal as that of anyone else. It is proved from the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) that he used to make love with his wives except having sex during his fast. It is also reported that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “The most beloved things to me in this life are women and perfume.” [An-Nasaa'i and others]

The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) also said: “But I pray and I sleep, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not one of us.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

The above Hadeeth and similar ones prove that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was like any human being concerning the matter of sex.

The narration (Hadeeth) quoted by the questioner is not sound. Even if it were sound, it relates only to good manners and does not prove any other matter indicated in the question.

Allah knows best.
