Question

If someone seems to be suffering from a mental block stopping them from becoming a Muslim is it permissible to use hypnotism to help them "summon up courage" just as you might need to be hypnotized to help you lose weight?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. If hypnotism is done in a legal way which does not include anything unlawful according to Shariah, then it takes the rule of the aim for which it was done. This is because the means take the rule of the objectives and aims behind them. No doubt that helping someone become Muslim is a noble objective. Allah knows best.
