All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Yes, it is permissible to give a knife as a present as long as the donor is unaware of any evil intentions of the person to whom he is giving it to, such as killing, stealing, and so on. If the donor knows that the gift will be used in a prohibited act, then he will be helping him in transgression, and Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): {Help you one another in virtue, righteousness and piety but do not help one another in transgression. And fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is Severe is punishment.}[5:2].
