The evil of mixing with a non-Mahram

Question

What shall I do? My sister says that the husband of my second sister makes improper advances to her, while my second sister (his wife) denies it. The situation is difficult, they appointed me as a judge between them but I do not notice any improper conduct from my brother in-law. In addition to this, my second sister never lied since her childhood. What shall I do?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

What your sister is claiming about your brother in-law [the husband of your second sister] if it is the truth, then this could be a result of mixing with him and not considering him as a marriageable man. Anyway, whether or not this matter is correct, it is an obligation on her, like other women, not to mix with marriageable men and stay away from this man from whom she is complaining. Nonetheless, if she transgressed any religious limits with him, then it is an obligation on her to repent to Allaah.
