Question
Is it Halaal to mix Halaal meat with an American food, such as using American bread and Halaal meat to make a kebab sandwich?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no harm in eating the American bread or any other food of the people of the book as Allaah Says (what means): {…and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you…}[Quran 5:5]. However, it is forbidden to eat the meat of animals which were not slaughtered according to Islamic rites, as in this case they are dead animals. It is also forbidden to eat pork or consume anything which causes intoxication.
So, if the bread you are asking about is free from any forbidden ingredients, like pork, or any intoxicants and so forth, then there is no harm in eating it.
