Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is confirmed that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Wiping one's hand on the Yemeni Corner and the Black Corner (i.e. the Black Stone) absolutely wipes out all sins.” [Ahmad and An-Nasaa’i] Besides, Ibn ‘Umar may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Wiping over them wipes out (all) sins.” [Ahmad] Another narration by At-Tirmithi may Allaah have mercy upon him reads: “Wiping over them expiates all sins.

However, as far as we know, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) did not specify with the above narrations any kind of Tawaaf; so, whoever wipes over them in any kind of Tawaaf, it is hoped that he will get that reward, be it the Tawaaf of Hajj, ‘Umrah, Farewell Tawaaf, or any optional Tawaaf, as Allaah’s Mercy and Grace are vast.

Allaah Knows best.
