There is a family whose members have not managed to find work. Please advise.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

These people should:

1. Exert all efforts to find an (Islamically) lawful job.

2. Depend on Allaah the Almighty and put their trust in Him.

3. Ask Allaah the Almighty to help them find a job.

4. Abstain from doing evil acts, as they deprive a person from livelihood.

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that sins deprive a person from livelihood, that Du‘aa’ (supplication) changes fate, and that kind treatment to kinfolks increases one’s lifespan. [Ahmad and Al-Haakim (Saheeh: Authentic)]
