Differences in opinion must not lead to disunity and conflict

Question

I work with one of the well-known Islamic groups; however problems sometimes arise between me and my Muslim brothers because of differences in opinion. Will this spoil the reward of our deeds?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

We have already discussed the subject of Islamic groups and the ruling on affiliation to them and on serving Islam through their channels in Fataawa: 88772, 91463 and 82024.

Difference in opinion should not create conflict, as long as you are arguing about something that is permissible to differ about. The companions, the righteous Salaf and leading Muslim scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them all differed amongst themselves, but they never let this cause them to be disunited.

Allaah Knows best.
