Fatwa CenterRuling on wearing Niqaab during the state of Ihraam
Question
A woman went to perform ‘Umrah and wore the Niqaab while performing it. Is she required to do anything noting that she is in another city now?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Wearing Niqaab is one of the actions that are forbidden in the state of Ihraam for women. Any woman who does this while knowing and remembering the relevant ruling must offer a Fidyah (i.e. compensation). Whereas the one who does it due to ignorance or forgetfulness is not required to do anything according to the preponderant opinion of scholars.
