Has Only Enough Money for Hajj But He Also Wants to Get Married

Question

I am 33 years old and never went to al-hajj. I am single and couldn't find a wife to get married because I live in Canada. To marry a Muslim woman costs more than what I have. If I have just the money for al-hajj, should I save and make enough for marriage, which takes a very long time, or just use what I have for al-hajj and go?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Dear Brother, you are to perform Hajj without any delay as long as you can afford it. The Beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Hasten to perform Hajj since none of you knows what might happen to them [i.e. that would prevent them in the future].” [Ahmad, Abu Daawood and Ibn Maajah]

Know, dear brother, that Hajj should be given priority over marriage unless you fear to commit what is forbidden.
Generally speaking, you are to perform Hajj immediately since you cannot afford marriage.

Allah knows best.
