What is the correct way of inviting people to a marriage banquet?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The correct way of inviting people to a marriage banquet is to invite your family, your relatives, the neighbours, your friends, and the noble and righteous people, but you should not only invite the rich and ignore the poor. Furthermore, you should arrange for the presence of someone who can admonish and advise the people, and those who will entertain them with beneficial programmes and permissible and beneficial Islamic Anasheed (religious songs without the use of musical instruments). Nonetheless, you should seek the advice of the scholars in your country as they know more about the reality in which you live, and know what is appropriate and what is not appropriate.
